Position Overview
The European Central Bank (ECB) is seeking a Language Services Process Administrator to join the Directorate General Communications. You will be part of the Workflow and Vendor Management team, a group responsible for supporting the operational excellence of our Language Services Division.
In this role, you will coordinate the flow of translation, editing, and terminology requests that support the ECB’s communication activities. Working within the Language Support and Innovation Section, you will manage complex projects, optimize workflows, and serve as a central point of contact for stakeholders across the institution.
Important Eligibility Note: This vacancy is open exclusively to EU nationals currently working for:
- National Central Banks of the ESCB;
- International Governmental Organizations (IOs); or
- Other employers performing central banking or banking supervision tasks within the Eurosystem framework.
Key Responsibilities
Process Management & Coordination
- Process and coordinate incoming language service requests, acting as the liaison between internal requesters, in-house linguists, and external vendors.
- Manage a busy shared mailbox, prioritizing urgent requests and allocating work effectively across the team.
- Create projects and analyses using translation management tools (e.g., Trados Studio) to support daily workflows.
Project Leadership
- Lead and manage editing and translation projects, including high-profile multilingual publications and campaigns with tight deadlines.
- Coordinate end-to-end processes involving multiple stakeholders, ensuring adherence to established procedures and timelines.
Optimization & Support
- Evaluate current workflows and propose solutions to optimize processes.
- Build effective working relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the Section.
- Assist in the onboarding of newcomers and advise colleagues on process-related matters.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a service-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously in a multicultural environment.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in modern languages, translation, business, public administration, or a relevant field.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in process, operations, or administrative coordination.
- Process Management: Proven experience leading end-to-end processes involving multiple stakeholders (experts, support teams, management).
- Languages: Advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official EU language.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in a language services, content production, or knowledge-intensive operational environment.
- Familiarity with translation management systems (e.g., Trados Studio).
Contract & Benefits
- Contract: Short-term ESCB/IO contract. The appointment is for 12 months, extendable up to 36 months.
- Note: Candidates must hold a contract with their home institution for at least one year beyond the duration of the ECB contract.
- Salary: Band D (bracket 1 – step 1). Full-time monthly net salary of €5,526 plus benefits.
- Location: Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Occasional work during non-standard hours may be required.
