Strategic Context
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. In Central America and Mexico, we are responding to a complex humanitarian crisis driven by natural disasters, violence, and displacement.
We are currently recruiting a Child Protection Case Management Supervisor to lead a critical component of our “Safe Steps / Children on the Move” project. This role is pivotal in ensuring that children and adolescents affected by armed violence and human mobility receive protection services that meet international quality standards.
Position Mandate
The Supervisor will provide technical and operational leadership to a team of nine Case Managers across Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. Your primary mandate is to guarantee the quality, compliance, and effectiveness of case management services for vulnerable children.
You will act as the bridge between frontline staff and regional management, ensuring that all interventions align with the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action. This role requires a balance of clinical supervision, capacity building, and strategic coordination with state and humanitarian actors.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Supervision & Quality Assurance
- Supervise and mentor a team of 9 Case Managers across three countries, ensuring they adhere to individual work plans and performance standards.
- Conduct regular audits of case files to ensure compliance with protocols, data protection principles, and ethical standards.
- Facilitate weekly supervision meetings with case managers to provide technical guidance on complex cases and offer psychosocial support to the team.
- Manage the internal Case Management Database, analyzing monthly statistics to identify trends and improve service delivery.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee the identification of individual cases through community presence and referral pathways from partner organizations.
- Manage timelines for decision-making, placement, and follow-up to ensure optimal outcomes for children.
- Update and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for case management across the region.
- Ensure eligibility criteria for material, logistical, and technical support are applied consistently.
Capacity Building & Coordination
- Identify training needs within the team and coordinate with specialists to organize capacity-building sessions.
- Represent Plan International in coordination meetings with government bodies, NGOs, and beneficiary communities.
- collaboration with finance, logistics, and security departments to ensure project activities are executed efficiently and in compliance with donor procedures.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a protection professional with a strong background in emergency response and a proven ability to manage remote teams in high-stress environments.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: University degree in Law or Social Sciences (Licentiate degree + 3 years) or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in child protection in emergencies with a national or international NGO.
- Specific Expertise: At least 2 years of direct experience in Child Protection Case Management.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action and IASC Guidelines.
Skills & Competencies
- Leadership: Ability to supervise, coach, and motivate a dispersed team working in difficult conditions.
- Adaptability: Capacity to work effectively in extreme circumstances, including high-security risk environments.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish. Proficiency in English is considered a significant asset.
- Technical Proficiency: Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and project management tools.
Desirable Assets
- Experience managing cases in contexts of human mobility (migration/displacement).
- General knowledge of finance and information management.
