Overview
Global Emergency Group (GEG), in partnership with Credence Management Solutions, is seeking a Field Monitoring Specialist (FMS) to support third-party monitoring of humanitarian programs in Sudan. This consultancy role focuses on monitoring humanitarian assistance activities and conducting needs assessments in areas affected by complex emergencies, particularly in the Darfurs and Kordofans.
The position supports programming funded by the United States Government and requires in-country presence, extensive field travel, and strong contextual understanding of humanitarian operations in conflict-affected settings.

Key Responsibilities
As a Field Monitoring Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering independent monitoring and assessment services, including:
Context Monitoring and Reporting
- Build and maintain a strong understanding of humanitarian trends, access constraints, and evolving needs across Sudan
- Track developments affecting humanitarian delivery and partner operations
- Prepare clear written and verbal reports for client teams following field visits and stakeholder engagements
Monitoring of Humanitarian Programs
- Maintain regular communication with implementing partners and grantees
- Conduct site visits to verify project implementation against approved scopes of work
- Document progress, challenges, access limitations, and beneficiary feedback
Needs Assessments
- Travel independently to locations with limited access for client staff
- Assess humanitarian needs in newly affected or rapidly changing crisis areas
- Share assessment findings with relevant technical and program teams
Data Integrity and Technical Standards
- Apply client technical standards for monitoring and assessment when feasible
- Ensure confidentiality, informed consent, and ethical data collection practices
- Safeguard sensitive information and restrict data sharing to authorized program teams
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in humanitarian or development program monitoring
- Proven experience working in conflict-affected environments
- Strong written and spoken English proficiency
- Ability to travel 50–75% of the time within Sudan
- Sudanese citizenship (required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous professional experience working in Sudan
- Demonstrated field monitoring experience
- Familiarity with U.S. Department of State monitoring approaches
- Knowledge of local Sudanese languages

Working Conditions & Travel
The Field Monitoring Specialist will work remotely from personal living quarters and travel to project and crisis sites using UNHAS flights, helicopters, boats, and partner vehicles. All travel will be conducted in line with security guidance provided by GEG, client teams, and implementing partners. Consultants are responsible for providing their own IT and communication equipment.
