Strategic Context

The 11th World Water Forum, scheduled to take place in Riyadh in 2027, will be a pivotal moment for global water governance. As the world faces escalating water security challenges, the Forum serves as the primary platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue, policy formulation, and innovation.

Recognizing that sustainable water management requires intergenerational leadership, the Forum’s Youth Engagement Programme is establishing the Riyadh Water Youth Committee. This body will not merely participate; it will lead. The Committee is mandated to coordinate youth participation, shape the agenda, and ensure that the perspectives of young water professionals are integrated into high-level policy discussions.

We are inviting Expressions of Interest (EoI) from established youth-led and youth-serving organizations to nominate representatives for this strategic committee.

Mandate of the Committee

The Riyadh Water Youth Committee will operate as the core coordinating body for youth engagement leading up to and during the Forum. Members will hold a strategic responsibility to:

  1. Coordinate Participation: Design and implement frameworks that ensure meaningful youth attendance and contribution at the 11th World Water Forum.
  2. Shape Policy: Contribute directly to regional and global policy discussions, ensuring youth priorities are reflected in the Forum’s outcomes.
  3. Bridge Stakeholders: Facilitate dialogue between youth networks and senior decision-makers, including government officials, water experts, and international institutions.
  4. Drive Innovation: Promote sustainable and inclusive approaches to water governance, advocating for solutions led by the next generation of water leaders.

Eligibility Criteria

This call is open to organizations, not individual applicants. We are seeking partners with the institutional capacity to support a representative throughout the mandate.

Organizational Requirements:

  • Must be a youth-led or youth-serving organization active in the water sector or related environmental fields.
  • Must demonstrate a track record of engagement in water policy, advocacy, or technical implementation.

Representative Profile:

  • Nominated representatives must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Candidates should possess a strong understanding of global water challenges and experience in multilateral processes.
  • Representatives must have the time and capacity to commit to committee activities from appointment through to the Forum in 2027.

Application Process

Organizations interested in joining the Riyadh Water Youth Committee are required to review the Terms of Reference (ToR) in detail before applying.

Submission Requirements:

  • Submit an official Expression of Interest via the designated application portal.
  • Provide evidence of organizational mandate and the profile of the nominated representative.

Deadline: All submissions must be received by 31 January 2026 at 23:59 CET. Late applications will not be considered.
