Organizational Context
War Child is an international humanitarian organization dedicated to supporting children in conflict zones. We provide vital psychosocial support, protection, and education to strengthen their resilience. Our approach is science-based but tailored to the child’s experience, utilizing sport, play, and creative activities.
We are currently recruiting a Fundraiser Face-to-Face & Telemarketing to join our Friends & Legacies team in the Netherlands. This is a pivotal role for a results-oriented professional who thrives on personal interaction and the strategic management of external partners.
Position Mandate
Reporting to the Head of Fundraising (F&L), you will be responsible for driving the qualitative growth of our donor base through two critical channels: Face-to-Face (F2F) campaigns and Telemarketing.
Your mandate is to coordinate daily operations with external agencies, develop high-conversion campaign concepts, and ensure rigorous quality control. This role requires a “hands-on” operator who is equally comfortable analyzing performance data behind a desk and visiting field locations to coach recruiters. You will act as the guardian of the War Child brand in direct marketing interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Face-to-Face Campaign Coordination
- Manage external F2F agencies to guarantee optimal field presence throughout the year.
- Develop location and target audience strategies, monitoring daily and weekly performance metrics (sign-ups, conversion ratios, cost-per-donor, quality scores).
- Conduct regular field visits (1-2 times per week) to observe and monitor the quality of recruiters. You will provide coaching and training to ensure War Child is represented with integrity.
- Design and implement initiatives to motivate external recruiters and increase their engagement with War Child’s mission.
Telemarketing Campaign Management
- Direct external telemarketing agencies regarding strategy, planning, performance, and budget utilization.
- Develop persuasive scripts and conversation guidelines for both acquisition and welcome campaigns.
- Execute the annual campaign program, designing test cycles to optimize propositions and target audiences.
- Manage upsell and retention programs in collaboration with the wider team.
Agency Management & Performance Optimization
- Oversee contracts, budgets, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with all external partners.
- Analyze performance data granularly—per agency, location, and agent—to identify specific optimization opportunities.
- Develop and test new approaches, including incentive structures and visual materials.
- Organize regular performance reviews with agencies to drive continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a commercial thinker with a strong grasp of direct marketing mechanics and donor psychology.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s (HBO) or Master’s (WO) degree in Commercial Economics, Communication, or a related field.
- Experience: Relevant work experience in fundraising, direct marketing, or sales.
- Channel Expertise: Proven experience with Face-to-Face recruitment or telemarketing campaign management is essential.
- Agency Management: Demonstrated ability to manage external vendors and evaluate performance against KPIs.
- Data Literacy: Experience with test methodologies, data-driven optimization, and reporting.
Skills & Competencies
- Languages: Fluency in Dutch and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret complex campaign data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Project Management: Strong coordination skills with a focus on ROI and cost-effectiveness.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel regularly within the Netherlands for field visits.
We Offer
- Salary: Monthly gross salary between €4,135 and €5,142 (based on 40 hours, pro-rated for 36 hours), depending on experience.
- Benefits: 8% holiday allowance, fully paid pension scheme, and a monthly mobile phone allowance (€25).
- Work-Life Balance: 29 vacation days per year (full-time basis), hybrid working policy with travel/home-office allowances.
- Culture: An informal, dynamic environment in our Amsterdam (Watergraafsmeer) office.
