Operational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Somalia is seeking a specialized National Software Developer to support our digital transformation initiatives. Although the beneficiary country is Somalia, this specific assignment will be based in Kenya.

We require a technical expert with a proven background in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to design and deploy advanced software solutions that enhance our programmatic impact.

Scope of Assignment

This is a high-level technical consultancy. You will be responsible for developing, testing, and integrating AI-driven software components into UNDP’s existing digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Software Development & AI Integration

  • Design and code robust software applications with embedded AI/ML capabilities.
  • Develop algorithms and models tailored to specific development challenges (e.g., data analysis, predictive modeling, or process automation).
  • Ensure all code is clean, well-documented, and scalable.

2. Testing & Optimization

  • Conduct rigorous testing of software modules to ensure stability and security.
  • Optimize machine learning models for performance and accuracy.
  • troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the deployment phase.

3. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

  • Create comprehensive technical documentation for system maintenance and future upgrades.
  • Provide guidance to internal IT teams on managing AI-integrated systems.

Contract Details

  • Duration: The assignment entails 75 working days spread over a period of six months.
  • Location: The consultant will be based in Kenya.
